Net-presence:

We still read the posts and think the alt.games.doom thing is

a trip. :) If I or someone is silent for a while, it's prolly

because (I'll assume it's me but this probably applies to anyone

anywhere):

a. I'm sick with the flu and don't have the strength to type

(bald-faced lie based on the truth last week),

b. I'm busy doing the Jag port (truth),

c. (anyone else) He's busy doing the commercial version (truth),

d. I have a neat porting project at home which is more fun

than posting, eating, sleeping, or breathing (not far off),

e. Every time I post, I become an e-mail magnet for

the next two days, which kinda slows me down (politely

understated).

A personal request: Please send help requests to help@idsoftware.com,

not me. help@idsoftware.com has plenty of experience working w/

the bugs now and would rather have your business. If they can't

solve it, it'll get to one of the coders, not to worry.

v1.2:

Not out yet as we're having trouble with the serial code.

Something really nasty is happening. May take a little while,

but it's on the way. Everything else is pretty-much ready to

go. Just got the PAS-16 stereo support, a fix for IRQ 2 probs

w/ SB's, and lots of other general fixes including a great big

fat sound memory leak (up to 500k) which is quite plugged, now.

Also reprogrammed and tested is the IPX network code so that it

doesn't use broadcast packets.

We're still disturbed about this much "slower" v1.1 thing. If

you have this problem, please try "doom -nosound" and see if it's

still slower. If so, then it was the memory leak which is now

plugged. If this does not help, then !%*&!@%. We'd REALLY

like to know what's doing it, and it's not slower on any of our

machines making it hard to catch. Clues and cases very welcome.
