DOOM IPX and serial TSR source code available at ftp.uwp.edu:

(see above)

v1.2 bugs:

sigh. yes, we're aware of them (note lowercase broken-back type).

Can only ask that you please be patient. This is really the first

release with the complete set of features we intended. Regarding

comments (from those who can run it) on serial play; the reason

only 9600 baud is provided is that it's all we need. Although 14.4k

would improve responsiveness, it would not really improve speed.

Those who are experiencing extremely slow games are exeriencing a bug.

We are aware of the PS/2 mouse bug and also the network problems.

By the way, not being able to play netDoom over a router is not a bug.

It starts out by doing a broadcast packet to find others in the

game. If you want to change it to specify IPX addresses on the

command line, be our guest.

UNIX/X versions of Doom:

When ready with the UNIX/X versions, I'll let you know. Don't need

Beta-testers right now and am not keeping a list. And to answer this

FAQ, no we are absolutely not releasing the Doom source code.

pay-per-play:

Do not setup pay-per-play services for Doom. We have not yet

determined how to arrange licensing for that or whether we will

at all.

movie scripts:

Please do not send me or anyone else at id ideas for movie

scripts. Any mail attempts with movie ideas will be deleted

without being read. (yes, there is considerable interest in

producing a Doom movie)

Internet Beta-test group:

If you have reliable access to the Internet, would be interested in

becoming an id Beta-tester, have a unique or useful computer setup,

and are willing to put in some serious play at a moment's notice,

write help@idsoftware.com (I repeat- do not write me- write help@).

You must not only know your way around DOS but must know how to hack

around a bit to find workarounds to typical problems.

By the way, this is only for the DOS version of Doom.
