Quake Spy 2.1

This program was born out of a desire to quickly find a playable Quake

server. I must have spent a week looking at the finger output from

Servers@ns.stomped.com and then manually pinging those IP addresses

looking

for a server with a decent response time. While this accomplished my

initial goal, it was hardly an acceptable solution. Hence, the birth of

Quake Spy!

Quake Spy will attempt to finger Servers@ns.stomped.com and/or request the

http://citrix.progress.com/servers.html web page, parse the output, ping

those sites and display the results. The site is pinged 4 (configurable)

times and the average ping time and number of time-outs (if any) are

displayed along with the server name, map name, current number of players

and the maximum number of players on that server.

This release has been tested and (to the best of my knowledge will only)

work with Win95/NT3.51/NT4.0 as it uses ICMP.DLL to perform the pings.

Filtering is now implemented! There are four filter settings you can use

to limit the output of the server gathering process:

1. Display servers that return the Quake query request.

2. Display servers that are not full of players.

3. Display servers whose ping requests timed out less than

the specified amount.

4. Display servers whose average ping time is less than the

specified time.

Launching Quake is now implemented! Once a server has been displayed in

the QSpy listbox, you can double click on it to launch Quake and have it

automatically connect to that server. Yes! But don't do this under NT.

Quake won't like it.

If you use this and find it useful or have any comments/suggestions please
