to anyone who might be interested....
i wrote john carmack today, and got a rather prompt reply. i thought
i'd share it with you all, though it is fairly brief.
i had asked him about the performance that quake has been getting on
the i-net for those of us (like everyone) who connect via slip or ppp.
"when can we expect something done?" i asked. "your .plan hasn't
mentioned anything about either modem or internet fixes anytime soon."

QuakeWorld should help your internet play a LOT. We got sidetracked
with the Rendition port of Quake, so we haven't been on the
windows/quakeworld stuff for a few weeks, but we hope to be back on it
full time next week.
