qutils.zip is now available from ftp.idsoftware.com and mirrors. It
contains source and binaries for the current set of freely available
development utilities:
modelgen sprgen qbsp vis light bspinto entmap qcc texmake qlumpy qfiles
Unzip it with the -d switch if using pkunzip for properly create the
directories. (Note that, for me, this impedes the use of the included
makefile, but not unzipping with -d impedes it more because some
filenames overlap)
The readme file is taken straight from the Quake Developers CD, so there
is some information which does not apply. It is, however, quite complete
and very useful (i.e., read it first!).
Also, there are remnants of visx left in the makefile. visx is a
replacement for vis which has not been included (the source and binaries
are not included). Apparently the removal was not complete, so you will
need to edit the makefile if you plan to do a full recompile.
