Greetings, fellow Quake hackers!

I am pleased to announce the release of the "Unofficial Quake Specs",

version 3.1. This document, written by Olivier Montanuy with the help

of Brian Martin, John Wakelin, David Etherton and yours truly, is an

updated version of the Unofficial Quake Specs 3.0, and corrects many

bugs and ommisions. It contains all the technical information that

has been discovered so far about the test release of Quake (QTEST1).

This document can be distributed freely and is intended to be a

reference for all authors of Quake editors and utilities, as well as a

source of information for the curious.

Here is the new table of contents:

The Unofficial Quake Specs are available at the following WWW sites:

http://www.stud.montefiore.ulg.ac.be/ftp-mirror/quake/docs/

http://www.nero.uni-bonn.de/~dn/q-sup/spec/qspec-current.html

http://www.cdrom.com/pub/idgames2/docs/ (in ZIP format only)

Thecnical discussion of these specs should take place in the newsgroup

rec.games.computer.quake.editing (gameplay issues and other topics

should go to rec.games.computer.quake.misc). Exchanges in a public

forum are better than private e-mail, so that others can be informed

before a new edition of the specs is released. Also, the authors don't

want hundreds of messages in their mailboxes, so please don't e-mail us

directly if your message is of general interest -- post it in

r.g.c.q.editing instead. Thanks.

Enjoy!
