Coming soon to a LAN near you...West Kingston Frag Fest (WKFF) IV!

Hi people...this is the 2 week warning before my next Quake party. The next

day of LAN based murder and mayhem is currently scheduled for Sunday

December 8th. Mark your calendars!

Where it happens:

West Kingston, Rhode Island --- Near the University of Rhode Island.

As usual the arrangements are as follows:

(1) Bring you own computer. Sound cards and speakers are welcome. LAN based

viruses are not! Your computer should be equipped with an ethernet card

with a BNC (thin-ethernet) connector and a tee connector. You need to bring

your own network cable too. Please try to have the card installed and

functioning before packing up to come to save on confusion/frustration at

the party. If you don't have a network card I can supply one if you let

know in advance that you need it. I have a couple of spare cards.

Unfortunately there is a chance the card won't work in your computer so

it's best to have a working card in place before coming. If you need to use

my card I'll charge you $5. Do yourself a favor...go to CompUSA and get

one. They're about the same price as a game ($45/card+$7/cable). If you're

going to get one buy one with a 10Base-T connector (Modular jack) in case

we eventually switch to a hub-based 10Base-T LAN. They're typically called

'Combo' cards and have 2-3 different types of connectors (BNC, Modular,

15-pin D type).

(2) Bring a power strip. I'll supply the voltage.

(2) Bring snax/drinks for yourself and to share. Beer is welcome also

though I will have some here already. If you like a particular brand, bring

it. Same for soda...I'll supply a some basic cola/clear stuff. Around 4-5pm

we order out for >>PIZZA<<. A donation of ~$4-5 is required to cover

feeding the hungry mob.

(3) Bring any Quake patches/mods you like. We'll try to fit them in. We

play custom maps so if you have any of those feel free to bring them along

too.

(4) Bring a friend/friends who understand the above 3 rules. If you are

coming and/or planning on bringing a friend please let me know in advance

so I can have enough table space for the computers. You don't have to be an

awesome Quake player to attend. We will accomodate any skill level. The

point is to HAVE FUN! Please leave bad attitudes at home.

News flash: The server has now been upgraded to a Pentium/75 w/ 24MB RAM

and 256K pipeline-burst CPU cache. More than enough horsepower for this

job!

See ya there!
