There is a new site (www.violent.demon.co.uk) that is trying to compile
a list of European Quake Players, there appear to be a number of such
sites elsewhere in the world but not a dedicated European site.
If you play quake in anywhere in Europe please goto the site and
register your player.
The site also has a European server list and a load more.

Archive now at http://www.3dgamers.com/3daction/
and ftp://ftp.3dgamers.com/pub/3daction/
The 3D Action Gamers' Archive, formerly located at WWW.GAMERS.ORG,
now has its own domain at 3DGAMERS.COM. The content is the same -
we've just moved to a new, dedicated location.
As of just after midnight, accesses to http://www.gamers.org/3dgamers/
are being automatically redirected to http://www.3dgamers.com/3daction/
You don't have to change your bookmarks or your hyperlinks, but it
would be a good idea to do so because in some distant future the
automatic redirection may go away.
The 3D Action Gamers' Archive is an expanding collection of over 100
3D first-person perspective action games for the PC. It has several
unique features that make it valuable for any serious 3D game players:
- All games are collected together in one archive. No need to hop
from one ftp server to another, trying to find these shareware
games, demo versions, screenshots, add-ons, patches and other
relevant information: you will find all the latest versions in the
3D Action Gamers' Archive.
- Using FTP or WWW, you can browse the list of games in different
ways: ordered by game title or by the name of the companies that
made them. The game titles are split in three categories, for
easier browsing: the current games, the upcoming ones (with screen
shots or previews) and the games pre-dating Doom's technology.
- An info sheet is available for each game, identical in layout so
it's easy to eye-ball. It includes: its title, the name of the
companies that developed and published it, its release date (or
expected release date for upcoming games), the official FTP and WWW
sites for that game, a link to the FAQ (if available) and a list of
newsgroups in which more information about that game can be found.
You will also find a list of keywords that could help you to
classify the game if you are not already familiar with it.
- The most popular games have their add-on archives mirrored locally.
There you will find hundreds of new levels and utilities for games
such as Doom, Doom II, Duke Nukem 3D, Heretic, Hexen, Strife and
Quake. A re-organized archive for Wolfenstein 3D and Spear of
Destiny is also maintained locally.
- The WWW interface is simple and does not use frames or heavy
graphics, and the archive is organized at most three levels deep,
thus making it easier for you to go quickly to the games that you
want to download or simply check out.
- We care about the 'net-underprivileged :) Along with FTP and WWW,
you can access the site via ftp-by-email through ftpmail@gamers.org
(send an email with the word "help" in the body for instructions).
- If you have any questions/comments/concerns you can reach the
maintainers either via email or a local newsgroup. The email
address is 3dgamers@3dgamers.com and the newsgroup is available
from news://news.gamers.org/gamers.3dgamers
And of course it is free. Only pure service to the gaming community.
Here is the list of games that are currently covered in the archive.
Keep in mind that things typically change whenever a relevant new game
is released, so this list may not be 100% up-to-date. For the latest
list of games please see: http://www.3dgamers.com/3daction/

Things to contribute that we'd appreciate:
- Reviews of any of the games.
- New or unreleased cheatcodes.
- News tidbits about upcoming products (including gossip).
- Time. If you think you have time to spare to help add more cool
games from other categories let us know - we'd appreciate it.
In particular, we are interested in setting up new archives for
3D RPG games, 3D Simulators, or even 3D Puzzle games, and could
use a lot of help on them.
