The public BETA release of PakExplorer, my new pak utility with a windows95

Explorer-style interface, is now available at this address:

http://www.mindspring.com/~awbone/quakestuff.html

Here are some of PakExplorer's features:

-Explorer dual-pane style interface.

-Registers automatically with the shell - open pak files by simply double-

clicking on them.

-Supports drag&drop and cut&paste to and from Windows Explorer and

between multiple PakExplorer windows

-Create new pak files using the standard Windows "New" mechanism. Now

pak files can be treated just like regular file folders.

-Rename, move, delete, and restore files and folders within a pak

-Create new folders and remove any unused space in the pak.

This is a BETA release of PakExplorer. Please read the readme file carefully

before using it.

PakExplorer is freeware. If all goes well, I plan on releasing a final version

in 4 or 5 weeks.

You'll need the MFC distributables (mfc40.dll and msvcrt.dll) to run

PakExplorer. You can obtain those files from the web site given above

and from many other places on the web if you don't have them already.

thanks, ashley
