Distopia Deathmatch Patch

=========================

By Ming

---------------

How to Use

---------------

To install it, simply create a subdirectory in your quake directory (I

call

it DistDM) and put the files included in this archive in it. Then run

quake

like you normally would, only with the addition of a '-game DistDM'

paramater.

Here are the features off this patch:

Swinging Hook- An enhanced grappling hook, this mod is GREAT! Here

are the use keys (you can modify the keys in Hook.cfg):

Impulse Key Function

---------- ------- ------------

n / a Enter Launches/disconnects hook

n / a ' Climb up chain

n / a / climb down chain

Compass- Not all that special, it just shows the direction

you are facing when you press TAB.

Useful when you are lost in a large level.

Security Camera- WOW! This one is COOL!!! I even impress

from Nezu> cycles your view between the intermission points on

the level. You ARE vulnurable

when you use it, however, so be careful. There is

also a "place cam" feture hidden

in it. Can you find it? Here are the keys (

that can be modified in Camera.cfg):

Impulse Key Function

---------- ------- ------------

240 0 Cycles through cameras

242 9 Returns to player

Pipebombs- These are neat... Anyways, this allows you to place

from Asmodius> "yellow" grenade thanks to me), and then detonate

it later. You can place more than

one at a time, but they detonate all at once. Each

bomb uses 1 rocket.The keys

(which can be modified in pipe.cfg) are:

Impulse Key Function

---------- ------- ------------

61 ] Set a bomb

62 [ Detonate all your set bombs

"The Stinger"- An interesting weapon, I hacked this one too.

It appears as a "blue" grenade (again,

thanks to me), and is very useful. When dropped

into water, it waits a few seconds,

then gives a nasty jolt (25 health) to anyone in

the water. This is all for a price of

1 rocket and 25 cells.

Anyways, here is the launch key (which can be

changed in stinger.cfg):

Impulse Key Function

---------- ------- ------------

20 backspace Launches a stinger. Everyone

out of the pool!!!

Extra FX- This part was modified from the EFX patch,

available on

"robertp@airmail.net" CD-Rom.Com. The code is BASICALLY

the same, but I added some nifty looking

sprites and a new sound entity (ambient_rain).

If you

want to test the EFX features, simply run

the map called EFX that is included

in the PAK file. Here are the EFX spes:

IF YOU WISH TO MAKE A LEVEL FOR EFX:

---------------------------------------------

--You may place a lightning generator in a level by placing an entity

with the classname "efx_lightning"

--You may place a rain generator in a level by placing an entity

with the classname "efx_rain"

--You may place a snow generator in a level by placing an entity

with the classname "efx_snow"

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Changes/Fixes

1.3

* Pipe bombs do more damage (trying to balance them)

* Added new skin (Hope this one works!!!)

* ----- added EFX (environmental effects)! Really cool! ------

* Correct Deathmessages (I hope)

1.2

* Stingers now disintegrate if they are dropped on land

* Pipe bombs now do half the damage of grenades

* Switched to bit-fields (should be faster)

* Fixed the NASTY model bug

1.1 not released. (Really sucked!)

1.0 Pre-pre release (so many bugs I couldn't count them)

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Plans

* Eventually plan to include custom levels

* Can choose whether to drop or throw pipebombs

* More level specific entities (camera points, etc.)

* Neat "black" features

* Camera mdl

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------

Well, that's about it. Send any responses to NHoobler@aol.com (I know.

I'm getting a new provider soon, so don't give me any crap!) I am a

founding

member of Clan Distopia (www.geocities.com/~distopia).

If you find a bug, e-mail me so I can deny it and explain it as a

feture.

In fact, e-mail me for any reason (I'm lonely). Some of this code

(actually,

alot of this code) was copied from sources on cdrom.com. Unfortunately,

in my

infinite wisdom, I deleted all the source after I implimented it into

the

main patch. Thus, I cannot give proper credits. I will try to find the

patches again and should have proper credits by the next version.
