Hi there.

Please forward this message to ANYONE who might be even slightly

interested.

I'm considering organising a netmeet in October at my local 'Moat House'

hotel. This is situated just off the M1 at Junction 9(?) (30 miles NW

of London) and is within walking distance of a Little Chef, and only

minutes away from the local pizza and pubs :)

I'm not sure yet about numbers, but from what I've seen of the

conference room, i could fit 30-40 people in there without too much

bother. The conference room is around the same size as the room in

Southampton (for those who've been there).

The weekend would probably cost #15 a head for the weekend, but i cannot

be sure until i receive more infomation from the hotel. Rooms are also

available for around #30 a night for a single room, but we dont sleep at

these events :)

For the moment, keep the following dates in your diary free:

4/5 October (these are ALL Saturday+Sunday)

11/12 October

18/19 October (most likely, school half-term, so mebby more interest)

I'm going to try to make this a Quake/Hexen 2 netmeet primarily, but

people always go off and do their own thing. The Quake would be TCP/IP

QuakeWorld 32 player servers, hopefully on dedicated servers, although

we might have to set up 2 servers per dedicated (just diff ports), if

you see what I mean? Among other things, I'll try to get an FTP server

and a IRC server going, so you can arrange matches easily, insult each

other just like you do online and DCC files quickly.

OK. If you want to consider coming, then mail me at

macca@compuserve.com anytime, to ask questions or lend assistance with

networking etc.. cos i would need ALL the cabling (be it COAX or RJ-45)

This event WILL NOT go ahead if I'm going to lose money, but any profits

will be treated accordingly (hmm, i wonder how much a monster 3d

costs) and returned in the form of alcohol

So. If you want to come, mail me at macca@compuserve.com with your

e-mail address and nickname, and I'll keep you all informed!
