I just released a deathmatch level - "Penance of the Satyrs" (satyr1.bsp).

My design specs for this map were:

1) Large enough for 16 players for a frag fest, VERY playable with 8-12

players.

2) Classic design with excellent playability features.

3) Dramatic lighting and environment but no really dark, blacked out

areas...they annoy me.

4) LOWEST LAG POSSIBLE. I followed the advice from the QuakeLab and other

sites to create a level that minimizes map-induced lag. All the elements

that create lag in a map were eliminated. This level has no doors, no

moving platforms, no grenade launcher and no huge, expansive outdoor areas.

5) LOW R_SPEEDS RATING. The level has a consistent r_speeds rating under

450 over the entire map! Most of the time it is WAY below 400. Very fast

and smooth.

I believe the design, the low-lag criteria and the low r_speeds rating make

this map truly unique, but hey, I'm biased. I have also playtested the

level for a few days straight with the Reaper bot and I love this map! Try

it out and let me know what you think.
