CTF Bot is a totally new Quake C bot combined with ThreeWave Capture the
Flag version 3.5. With CTF Bot you can play ThreeWave Capture the Flag by
yourself, against a team of bots. You can also spawn bots on your team to
help you.
I played this on some distant server (my pings were over 700). I
spawned two bots to help me against a couple of 150 ping players. I
found that the bots would get 'stuck' trying to get to a weapon thru a
too small window (Da Ancient War Grounds) and off a small table
(Vertigo). You need to add a timeout (or something) to give up
attempts to reach an object. You need to add jumping to bots
attempting to obtain an object.
One was a pretty good defender, but the other was a terrible runner
(except for one level, Tale of Two Cities (I think)). Bots don't seem
to recognize a Quad'ed player as very dangerous, and got easily
fragged charging into a Quad rocket with a shotgun blazing away...
You should take a look at Terminator, your bot stands still to fire
too much and charges into the line of fire. That gives a modem player
a chance, but better tactics would be more interesting to play
against. You can always make the bot 'easy' by having it play with
the shotgun only, if complaints about it's superior tactical ability
arise (as with Terminator).
An interesting mod for those times when there is a player shortage,
but give me a good team of humans anyday.
